ROA Entertainment participated as the Producer for OnDemandKorea (ODK)’s Original Content, “Against The Odds” (넘사벽). The title carries the meaning “Breaking Through the Barriers of American Society” and explores the stories of Korean immigrants who have established themselves as leaders within mainstream American society and global companies. Rather than focusing solely on the outcome we often define as success, the program takes a closer look at the choices, challenges, and determination that led them there.

For this project, we met with five first- and second-generation Korean immigrants currently working at major companies and institutions, including YouTube, Google, Visa, the Federal Reserve Bank, and Nike. Through candid conversations about their careers and professional lives, we explored the challenges and setbacks they experienced in American society, as well as the insights and strategies that helped them build successful careers. More than just a series of interviews, the program captures the authentic experiences of Korean immigrants building their lives and careers in the United States.

Following the stories of five individuals from different generations and backgrounds, “Against The Odds” invites viewers to reflect on what success truly means in American society—and whether the barriers we perceive are really impossible to overcome. For ROA Entertainment, this project was more than simply producing content; it was an opportunity to share the real experiences, challenges, and voices of Korean Americans who have forged their own paths in the United States with a new generation.
